A recent study carried out by researchers from the Medical University of South Carolina in the United States found that vitamin D supplements may slow down or reverse the progression of low-grade prostate cancer tumors. With one in six men now expected to develop prostate cancer in their lifetimes, the study adds to the growing scientific evidence that natural approaches are effective in controlling this disease.

The patients who took part in the study were 37 men with prostate cancer who had decided to undergo prostatectomy (removal of the gland). Divided into two groups, they received either 4,000 IU of vitamin D per day or a placebo. After 60 days their prostate glands were removed and examined. The researchers found that the prostates of the men who had received the vitamin D supplements showed significant improvement, whereas the condition of those of the placebo group had either stayed the same or worsened. Moreover, the study also found that vitamin D caused dramatic changes in the expression levels of many cell lipids and proteins, especially those involved in inflammation. Long-lasting chronic inflammation has many detrimental effects on the body and has been associated with a wide variety of diseases including not only cancer but also heart disease, arthritis, asthma, diabetes and autoimmune diseases.

As regular readers of our newsletters will be well aware, researchers at the Dr. Rath Research Institute have studied both prostate cancer and inflammation. However, rather than using the basic single nutrient approach that is still followed by most other researchers, they have been examining how a carefully chosen combination of nutrients – including vitamin C, lysine, proline, green tea extract, selenium and others – can simultaneously affect multiple mechanisms that cancer uses to overpower the body. From experience gained through developing and using this innovative micronutrient synergy approach, they have determined that the most effective results are achieved by utilizing specific and properly selected micronutrient combinations that act in biological synergy.

But as promising as these scientific developments are, we need to understand that Victory Over Cancer will not be given to us voluntarily. Instead, because of the vested interests behind the pharma ‘business with disease,’ we have to earn the right to live in a world without fear of cancer. For this reason, the battle for Health for All to become a reality in the twenty-first century is absolutely central to the work of our Foundation. As always, therefore, if you share our commitment to this task and would like to discuss how you can contribute to achieving it, please contact us. Ultimately, it is only through working together that a world without cancer will be achieved.

Executive Director of the Dr. Rath Health Foundation and one of the coauthors of our explosive book, “The Nazi Roots of the ‘Brussels EU'”, Paul is also our expert on the Codex Alimentarius Commission and has had eye-witness experience, as an official observer delegate, at its meetings.

Prior to joining the Foundation, Paul's background was in the music industry, where he worked as a keyboard player and programmer with artists including Paul McCartney, Bryan Ferry, Bill Withers, the Verve, Texas, and Primal Scream.

He first became interested in natural health after falling ill with a chronic fatigue syndrome-related disorder in 1991 and subsequently making a full recovery through the use of natural health therapies. After meeting Dr. Rath and Dr. Niedzwiecki at an anti-Codex rally in Berlin in 2002, Paul was inspired to make a life-changing decision to leave the music industry to work for the Foundation and help defend the right of patients worldwide to have free access to natural health approaches.
