|The Ministry of Peace concerns itself with war, the Ministry of Truth with lies, the Ministry of Love with torture and the Ministry of Plenty with starvation. These contradictions are not accidental, nor do they result from ordinary hypocrisy; they are deliberate exercises in DOUBLETHINK. For it is only by reconciling contradictions that power can be retained indefinitely.
– George Orwell, Nineteen Eighty-Four
As the outcome of the recent U.S. presidential election reverberates around the world, the mass media is conducting a witch-hunt against so-called ‘fake news’ websites whose influence it claims affected the result. In manipulations reminiscent of the ‘Ministry of Truth’ in George Orwell’s classic novel Nineteen Eighty-Four, lists are being published of sites supposedly publishing fake stories; videos are lecturing us on how we can apparently spot them; and demands are being made for search engines and social media platforms to diminish their reach. Seemingly, after decades of producing dumbed-down fake news itself, the media is worried that its viewers and readers are beginning to turn away and think for themselves.
According to a BuzzFeed News analysis, the top ‘fake’ U.S. election news stories generated more total engagement on Facebook than the top election stories from 19 major news outlets combined. With alternative and social media clearly outperforming orthodox media by reaching and influencing ever larger numbers of people, the establishment is getting worried. Aware that Facebook now reaches 1.8 billion people every month, the mass media is being forced to come to terms with the fact that both its credibility and future are now at stake.
Of course, there are certainly some outright hoax sites that are posing as “news” providers. To the people behind these sites it matters not at all that there is no truth to their stories. The bottom line for them is that through pay-per-click advertising there is big money to be made from publishing sensationalist content, no matter how absurd it is.
But we should not delude ourselves into believing that the so-called “fake news scandal” is merely about preventing hoax news stories from influencing election outcomes. In reality it goes much deeper than this: it is about the political and media establishment wanting complete control over what we can – and cannot – read, think, learn, and decide for ourselves.
If you stop to think about it, nowhere does the issue of truthful reporting have a greater impact on our lives and wellbeing than it does in the field of medicine. But when it comes to who we can really trust regarding information about health, for some years now the orthodox media has arguably been the least reliable source around.
Take the recent promotion of new statin drug guidelines, which were issued by the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force only a few days after the election. According to these recommendations, everyone aged 40 and older should supposedly now be considered for statin drug treatment – regardless of whether or not they have a history of cardiovascular disease. Predictably, the Washington Post, NBC News, and other major U.S. media outlets all dutifully reported this pro-pharma story as if so-called “cholesterol-busting” drugs were truly the scientific answer to preventing heart attacks and strokes.
In fact, however, as proven in a groundbreaking study published by researchers at the Dr. Rath Research Institute in April 2015, we now know that cardiovascular disease is an early form of the vitamin C deficiency disease scurvy. The publication of this scientific finding not only dealt a major blow to the cholesterol theory of heart disease, it ensured that the drug industry’s ongoing collapse in profits from the sale of statins will continue. Tellingly, therefore, the mass media has avoided drawing any attention to it.
The same goes for cancer. Despite over 8 million deaths occurring each year from this disease, the media continues to portray chemotherapy and radiotherapy as proven effective treatments. But what it isn’t telling you is that safe, non-toxic natural health approaches now exist that have been shown to block all key mechanisms that make cancer a deadly disease.
The explosive growth of the internet and social media platforms in recent years has enabled vast numbers of people to access news, views, and information that directly contradict the ‘official’ versions promoted by the orthodox media. Paralleling the invention of the printing press in the 15th century, which led to the ending of mass illiteracy and the expansion of the human mind, the spread of natural health knowledge through modern digital technology will inevitably lead to the liberation of mankind from the Pharma Cartel and its business with disease.
As Benjamin Franklin, one of the U.S. Founding Fathers, once said: “Freedom of speech is a principal pillar of a free government; when this support is taken away, the constitution of a free society is dissolved, and tyranny is erected on its ruins.” These words remain as true today as they were in the 18th century, and we ignore them at our peril.
