‘Catastrophe’ as France’s bird population collapses due to pesticides

Dozens of species have seen their numbers decline, in some cases by two-thirds, because insects they feed on have disappeared.

Evidence clearly shows that pesticides are not as safe as they are claimed to be. As one of the UK’s chief scientific advisors pointed out last year, global regulations have long been ignoring the impacts of dosing whole landscapes with these dangerous chemicals.

But with scientific research increasingly confirming the health benefits of organically produced food, and global sales of it continuing to rise, there is little doubt now that change is coming and that a healthier world will eventually result.
