Who are the prime beneficiaries when tens of thousands of children are drugged with powerful antidepressant medications that have a long list of side effects? Not the children, of course, but the drug manufacturers; the trillion-dollar-a-year pharmaceutical industry. Lacking any moral scruples, the primary focus of drug companies is on creating profits for their shareholders. The health and lives of patients, including innocent children, are entirely secondary to this.
Significantly, therefore, studies have repeatedly shown that antidepressant drugs are far from safe. Far from addressing the root causes of depression, research reveals them to be associated with a significantly increased risk of death. Moreover, in the long run, depressed patients treated with these medications have been found to have more sharply elevated symptoms compared to those not prescribed them.
