Having recently announced he was ‘terminating’ the United States’ relationship with the WHO, it now remains to be seen whether President Trump will follow through with this. Certainly, there is no doubt that the WHO should be broken up and replaced with a new independent global body tasked with making natural preventive health a human right. Such a move would constitute an important preparatory step towards achieving the goal of ‘Health for All’ worldwide.

In the absence of this, anyone hoping for largescale reform of the WHO is likely to be disappointed. With around half of the WHO’s funding coming from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the pharma industry and other business-related entities, any changes that are made to the global body will likely only be cosmetic and accompanied by a generous helping of ‘spin’. We can also be quite certain that the WHO’s focus will remain firmly fixed on pharma-based health approaches.
