The vast majority of people in the world today suffer from a chronic undersupply of micronutrients. This situation has massively contributed to the development of the coronavirus pandemic. And yet, had the right action been taken years ago, the pandemic could easily have been avoided.

As far back as 2004 the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNESCO) published a global progress report on its Vitamin & Mineral Deficiency initiative, which acknowledged that at least 2 billion people worldwide were suffering from a chronic undersupply of vitamins and minerals. Recognizing that vitamin and mineral deficiency was “extremely common in almost all countries”, the report described how this was resulting in wholesale damage to people’s immune systems, as well as large-scale loss of economic productivity and growth.

Stressing that its findings were far-reaching, the UNESCO report specifically stated the importance of “reaching out to whole populations to protect them against the devastating consequences of even moderate forms of vitamin and mineral deficiency.”

Today, sixteen years after the release of the UNESCO report, it is clear that its recommendations have essentially been ignored. The coronavirus pandemic is threatening the health and lives of billions of people and ruining the economies of entire nations. Social life is being disturbed, basic civil rights are being taken away, and economic damage is occurring in unprecedented proportions. And still, however, neither the so-called ‘experts’ nor the politicians they advise are providing people with the scientific fact that an optimum intake of vitamins and other micronutrients is a key measure for strengthening immunity. The failure to provide this information to the people of the world is a crime against humanity!
