It is not by accident that the World Health Organization (WHO) chose German company Deutsche Telekom to build its COVID vaccine verification app. Sitting in first place on the list of the world’s largest pharmaceutical exporting countries, Germany has a vested interest in the creation of such apps and their enforcement worldwide.

Reading below the headlines, one finds that in addition to being used for COVID-19 vaccinations, the WHO apparently intends this app to be used for other vaccines as well. The pharmaceutical industry will clearly benefit financially if people’s ability to travel becomes dependent upon using so-called ‘vaccine passport’ apps in order to prove their vaccination status.

As it turns out, however, the history behind such apps is murkier than you might think. While we are being encouraged to believe that their creation and enforcement is a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the fact is that, at least in Europe, their origins predate it by at least 20 months. Apparently, the pandemic conveniently provided European politicians with the ‘excuse’ they needed to introduce the idea. To learn more about this untold story, see this article on our website.
