Omega-3 Fatty Acids Linked To Fewer Childhood Asthma Symptoms

NEWS

New research suggests children having more omega-3 fatty acids in their diets experience fewer asthma symptoms triggered by indoor air pollution.

Scientific evidence clearly shows that micronutrients are helpful in controlling asthma. Researchers at the Dr. Rath Research Institute have investigated whether a specific mixture of micronutrients can affect the response of the human bronchial smooth muscle cells to different allergic stimuli such as histamine, bacterial proteins, and inflammatory chemicals. They observed that, in all cases, the micronutrient mixture significantly inhibited contraction of the smooth muscle cells. While the individual nutrients (including vitamin C, lysine, proline and others) each helped relax the smooth muscle cells, when combined their effect was greater than that of any single component – thus demonstrating the effectiveness of the micronutrient synergy approach.

The Dr. Rath Research Institute has also conducted a small pilot clinical trial in asthma patients aged between 45 and 75 years old. These patients took a specific combination of micronutrients for a period of three months and were intermittently subjected to lung function tests. By the end of the three months all of the patients experienced an increased lung capacity, with many of them recording a lung capacity that had almost doubled compared to their values before starting the trial.
