Americans’ Trust In Media Remains Near Record Low

News

At 34 percent, Americans’ trust in the mass media to report the news “fully, accurately and fairly” is essentially unchanged from last year and just two points higher than the lowest that Gallup has recorded, in 2016 during the presidential campaign. [Source: gallup.com]

In findings that are highly damaging to the credibility of the American mainstream media, this Gallup poll revealed that a mere 7 percent of people questioned felt they have “a great deal” of trust and confidence in it. In contrast, 38 percent said they now have no trust at all in newspapers, radio, or television. This poll is the first time that the percentage of Americans with no trust at all in the media has been higher than the combined percentage of people expressing either a great deal or a fair amount of trust.

Few would argue that the media’s biased treatment of the COVID-19 pandemic has helped this situation. The health risks of mRNA vaccines have been given remarkably little coverage, for example, with the media instead trying to give the impression that the injections are fully tested and extremely safe. Nor either has the proven efficacy and safety of natural approaches to controlling the pandemic been widely covered.
