Achieving True Vitamin D Sufficiency Cuts Breast Cancer Risk In Half

News

“It’s concerning enough that more than 40 percent of American adults meet the criteria for a clinical insufficiency in vitamin D (and a whopping 29 percent are straight-up deficient in the essential vitamin). But, disturbingly, a 2017 review shows that up to 96 percent of people diagnosed with breast cancer are also deficient in vitamin D.”

Research shows that having healthy levels of vitamin D may boost breast cancer outcomes. Higher levels of vitamin D are also associated with a lower risk of developing the disease. It has further been shown that among women who identify as Black/African American or Hispanic/Latina, those with low blood levels of vitamin D are more likely to develop breast cancer than those with adequate levels. Taking vitamin D supplements after a diagnosis of breast cancer is associated with a 20 percent increase in the survival rate.

For optimum results in the prevention and control of breast cancer, however, additional micronutrients are necessary. These include vitamin C, the amino acids lysine and proline, and others. To read how a study conducted at the Dr. Rath Research Institute found that combining vitamin D with a carefully chosen group of synergistic micronutrients is the most effective natural approach to inhibiting breast cancer, see this article on our website.
