Despite more than 17,000 applications made in the UK for compensation due to death or injury from COVID-19 vaccines, so far only 194 people have received payouts. Critics argue that the country’s ‘Vaccine Damage Payment Scheme’ is outdated and difficult to qualify for, with over 7,000 claims still awaiting a verdict. Applications have surged dramatically in recent years, reaching over 9,500 in 2024 alone, compared to just 50 to 102 applications per year in the decade before COVID-19 vaccines were introduced.

The debate around COVID-19 vaccine side effects has intensified recently following a new Yale University study identifying a condition, termed ‘post-vaccination syndrome,’ that is potentially linked to the mRNA forms of the vaccines. The condition is reported to cause a range of symptoms including brain fog, dizziness, and tinnitus. Researchers have also found immune system changes in affected individuals, as well as lingering coronavirus proteins in their blood. Some patients additionally show signs of reactivated Epstein-Barr virus, which can lead to flu-like symptoms and nerve problems. The Yale University study is still in progress and has not yet been peer-reviewed.
