Sanger, who has long been critical of the platform he helped found, has suggested that any editing, monitoring, updating or lobbying of Wikipedia carried out by the U.S. government should be defunded. His request aligns with Elon Musk’s role as the head of the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), an initiative focused on reducing federal spending. Sanger has also reached out to President Donald Trump, advocating for an executive order that would prohibit federal resources from being used to edit Wikipedia.
Previously, confirming many of the things the Dr. Rath Health Foundation has been saying for well over a decade now, Sanger has openly admitted that he no longer trusts Wikipedia. Speaking to Freddie Sayers, host of UnHerd magazine’s show Lockdown TV, Sanger said the site now gives a “reliably establishment point of view on pretty much everything.” He added that “there’s a very big, nasty, complex game being played behind the scenes to make the articles say what somebody wants them to say.”

Wikipedia co-founder Larry Sanger has asked Elon Musk to find out which branches of the U.S. government have asked employees to “edit, monitor, update, lobby” the online encyclopedia.
