Carried out by researchers at the University of Toronto in Canada, the study analyzed medical data from over 1 million Ontario residents with diabetes, focusing on 46,334 patients averaging 66 years old. Each patient was matched with two similar diabetic individuals not taking weight loss drugs, and the incidence of neovascular AMD was tracked over three years. The findings showed a doubled risk after six months of use, rising to over three times the risk after 30 months, with older patients and those with a history of stroke facing even higher risks.
