New research, published in Nature Communications, has found a link between the important micronutrient zinc and a sensor protein in the gut in the prevention and management of a range of bowel conditions, such as inflammatory bowel disease. Another key nutrient is vitamin D, for which there is growing evidence of benefit when supplemented as a treatment.

A meta-analysis published in 2018 by researchers in China recommends that vitamin D should be used in the treatment of inflammatory bowel conditions such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Published in the Medicine (Baltimore) journal, the analysis examines a total of 18 randomized controlled trials involving 908 patients. Noting that vitamin D deficiency is prevalent in patients with inflammatory bowel diseases, the researchers cite studies showing that supplementation with this nutrient can induce and maintain remission.

Deficiency of vitamin D is also now believed to be a key factor in irritable bowel syndrome, with research showing that supplementation can improve patients’ quality of life.

To learn about the benefits of Dr. Rath’s nutrient synergy approach for digestive health, see this article on our website.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

New research, published in Nature Communications, has found a link between the important micronutrient zinc and a sensor protein in the gut in the prevention and management of a range of bowel conditions, such as inflammatory bowel disease.

[22
120
