High blood pressure is a serious medical condition that significantly increases the risks of developing diseases of the heart, brain, kidneys, and other organs. A major cause of premature death worldwide, the World Health Organization estimates that around 1.28 billion adults between the ages of 30 and 79 years old suffer from the condition, many of whom are completely unaware that they have it.

Defined as the force exerted by circulating blood against the walls of the arteries, blood pressure is written as two numbers. The first (systolic) number represents the pressure in blood vessels when the heart contracts or beats. The second (diastolic) number represents the pressure in the vessels when the heart rests between beats. High blood pressure is diagnosed if the systolic reading is consistently higher than 140 mmHg and/or the diastolic reading is consistently higher than 90 mmHg.

While conventional medicine has failed to understand the primary cause of high blood pressure and therefore confines itself to treating its symptoms with drugs, Dr. Rath’s breakthrough scientific discovery opens up a new approach to controlling the condition. As his research has shown, the main cause of high blood pressure is a chronic deficiency of essential micronutrients in the smooth muscle cells that line the blood vessel walls. Micronutrients such as vitamin C, lysine, proline, arginine, magnesium and others are critical for maintaining the strength and elasticity of the blood vessels – and thereby for maintaining normal blood pressure.
