For decades, America has waged an ineffective war on drug pushers and drug lords, from Bronx street corners to Medellin, Colombia, regarding them as among the most contemptible specimens of humanity. One reason our efforts have failed is we ignored the biggest drug pushers of all: American pharmaceutical companies.

With the United States caught in the asphyxiating grip of an opioid addiction epidemic that is expected to kill over 60 thousand Americans this year, the unethical behavior of the pharma industry has been laid bare for all to see. By earning themselves billions of dollars from marketing heavily addictive narcotic painkillers and pretending they were safe for long-term use, drug companies have demonstrated they are morally bankrupt and ruthlessly driven by profit.
This illustrates one of the key reasons why our long-term goal has to be replacing synthetic drug-based medicine with a preventive system of healthcare based on scientifically proven natural approaches. For until this is achieved, human health will continue to be held to ransom by the trillion-dollar-a-year pharmaceutical ‘business with disease’.
