More than 50 years have passed since two-time Nobel prizewinning scientist Linus Pauling published his popular book, ‘Vitamin C and the Common Cold’. Despite playing a significant role in helping to increase public awareness of the health benefits of vitamin C supplementation, the evidence presented in the book was largely dismissed at the time by the scientific and medical establishment. Recent developments not only prove that Pauling was on the right track, however, but that carefully chosen synergistic combinations of nutrients developed at the Dr. Rath Research Institute have even greater beneficial effects in the fight against viral infections.
While the scientific and medical establishment essentially remains in denial over the efficacy of vitamin C against viral infections, a new meta-analysis authored by researchers from Finland and Australia confirms that this key nutrient does indeed reduce the severity of the common cold. Published in the BMC Public Health journal, the analysis examines double-blind randomized trials in which vitamin C was taken in moderate doses of 1 gram or more daily.
Looking at 10 trial reports describing a total of 15 separate comparisons, the researchers found that vitamin C significantly decreased the severity of colds by 15 percent. While Linus Pauling would doubtless have argued that using higher doses could have produced better results, the finding nevertheless adds to what is now a considerable body of evidence attesting to the power of vitamin C against viral infections.
A close personal friend of the late Nobel laureate, Dr. Rath spent time at Linus Pauling’s scientific institute in the early 1990s working as his first Director of Cardiovascular Research. Since then, Dr. Rath’s research with vitamin C has focused on enhancing its beneficial effects by combining it with synergistic groups of additional nutrients. Significantly, therefore, in the field of immune health, a combination of this type developed at the Dr. Rath Research Institute was recently awarded a groundbreaking patent by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The patent makes specific reference to the combination’s ability to increase immunity both before and after infections have occurred.
In addition to vitamin C, the combination also includes vitamin E, B complex vitamins, zinc, selenium, alpha lipoic acid, brown algae extract, white mulberry extract, ginger root powder, aronia extract, lychee fruit extract, and sour cherry extract. Its development marks a dramatic advance in the promotion of immune health compared to the use of vitamin C alone. Studies carried out by scientists at the Dr. Rath Research Institute suggest it has enormous potential in the natural control of viral infections.
With the gene-based vaccines used during the COVID-19 pandemic increasingly being shown to have serious, even lethal, side effects, it is time for the people of the world to be informed that natural, science-based approaches to strengthening the immune system are now available. Enhancing the power of vitamin C against viral infections with a synergistic combination of additional nutrients is both effective and safe. Towards achieving the goal of ‘Health for All’ on a global scale, Dr. Rath’s revolutionary Cellular Medicine approach has taken yet another dramatic leap forward.
