A chronic disease in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus, endometriosis can cause severe pain and make it harder for a woman to become pregnant.

Quercetin, a key flavonoid examined in this paper, is found in a variety of fruits and vegetables including onions, apples, and berries. A substance that has strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, it also has potent anti-allergic actions and has been found to inhibit cellular histamine release.

Playing an important role in maintaining strong blood vessels, quercetin is able to prevent blood clots by reducing the thickness of the blood. A liver-protecting substance that can counteract the dangerous effects of artificial estrogen, quercetin is also essential for the absorption of vitamin C and helps prevent its destruction in the body.

Due to its anti-inflammatory properties, quercetin has been studied in a variety of diseases associated with inflammation, including atherosclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and cancer. It is most commonly used therapeutically in conditions involving inflammation of the bladder or prostate.
