Mainstream Media’s Newfound Interest In The COVID-19 Lab-Origin Theory: An Attempt To Control The Narrative?

In late April 2020 we published a revealing article describing how Professor Luc Montagnier, the French scientist who shared the 2008 Nobel Prize in Medicine for discovery of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), had added his voice to those who believe the coronavirus was created in a laboratory. Interviewed on the CNews channel in France, Montagnier asserted that the virus had been designed by molecular biologists and insisted that its characteristics could not have arisen naturally. Within days, however, ‘false information’ warning labels were placed over our article whenever anyone tried to post it on Facebook. The video of Montagnier’s interview was also removed from YouTube. Despite these apparent attempts to prevent people from accessing the story, our article quickly went viral and was read by more than 1.5 million people. Notably, therefore, twelve months on, the mainstream media finally appears to be taking seriously the possibility that the virus may have originated in a laboratory. The question is though, why?

The mainstream media’s newfound interest in the lab-origin hypothesis follows a recent in-depth article published on the influential Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists website. Written by Nicholas Wade, a science writer, editor, and author who has worked on the staff of NatureScience, and, for many years, the New York Times, the article sorts through the available scientific facts and concludes that the evidence leans more strongly towards the possibility that the virus originated in a lab. Following the publication of Wade’s article there has been an explosion of mainstream media interest in the lab-origin theory, with articles published by the Wall Street Journal, the Los Angeles Times, CNN, and the London Times, among others.

Extending the net of culpability

The main focus of the mainstream media’s coverage of the lab-origin theory centers around accusations that the virus may have escaped from the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China, a facility coincidentally located only a few kilometers from the wet market where the pandemic has been widely claimed to have originated. Coverage also focuses on reports that in November 2019, shortly before the start of the outbreak, three Wuhan researchers were mysteriously hospitalized.

At the same time, however, the fact that, as reported by Nicholas Wade, coronavirus experiments carried out in Wuhan have apparently been funded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), a division of the United States’ National Institutes of Health (NIH), and also by the EcoHealth Alliance, a non-governmental organization located in New York, whose corporate partners include pharmaceutical companies such as Johnson & Johnson and Boehringer Ingelheim, is being largely downplayed.

Moreover, since 2013, the Wuhan institute has additionally had strong ties with the Galveston National Laboratory, a high security biocontainment facility in the United States that is part of the NIAID Biodefense Laboratory Network and run by the University of Texas Medical Branch. This too is essentially being ignored.

Given these links, and if the lab-origin hypothesis for the virus were proven correct, the Wuhan institute’s close ties with American interests could potentially result in the net of culpability extending to reach the United States itself. Should this happen, and if it were shown that the coronavirus had escaped following a so-called ‘gain-of-function’ experiment whereby the ability of a dangerous animal virus to infect human beings had been artificially enhanced, the worldwide political and societal ramifications would be incalculable.

The most explosive geopolitical question of the century

Given what is at stake, the mainstream media’s newfound interest in the lab hypothesis could well be an attempt to control the narrative. To extend Henry Kissinger’s oft-quoted observation, he who controls the narrative controls the people. Indeed, anyone doubting that this is already happening need simply ask themselves why, when science-based natural health approaches exist that could end the current pandemic, the media persists in propagating the lie that only experimental pharmaceutical vaccines can achieve this.

As the London Times recently noted, the possibility that the coronavirus may have escaped from a laboratory is arguably just about the most explosive geopolitical question of the century. After having been locked in their homes for much of the past year, the people of the world deserve to be told the truth. Whether they will get it from the mainstream media still remains to be seen.

Executive Director of the Dr. Rath Health Foundation and one of the coauthors of our explosive book, “The Nazi Roots of the ‘Brussels EU'”, Paul is also our expert on the Codex Alimentarius Commission and has had eye-witness experience, as an official observer delegate, at its meetings.

Prior to joining the Foundation, Paul's background was in the music industry, where he worked as a keyboard player and programmer with artists including Paul McCartney, Bryan Ferry, Bill Withers, the Verve, Texas, and Primal Scream.

He first became interested in natural health after falling ill with a chronic fatigue syndrome-related disorder in 1991 and subsequently making a full recovery through the use of natural health therapies. After meeting Dr. Rath and Dr. Niedzwiecki at an anti-Codex rally in Berlin in 2002, Paul was inspired to make a life-changing decision to leave the music industry to work for the Foundation and help defend the right of patients worldwide to have free access to natural health approaches.
