Test Screening For 11 Blood Biomarkers Could Predict Dementia 15 Years Sooner

A new study from scientists at The University of Warwick in the United Kingdom and Fudan University in China has identified 11 proteins that can be used as biomarkers to predict dementia 15 years before diagnosis.

While being able to predict dementia is certainly a useful development, drug-based medicine remains completely unable to prevent or safely control the condition. Despite this, new drugs such as lecanemab, an experimental medication that is claimed to slow the destruction of the brain in Alzheimer’s disease, have been hyped by the mainstream media as ‘momentous breakthroughs’. Little mention is made of the fact that the effects of these drugs are only very small or that their likely impact on patients’ daily lives is highly questionable. They can also carry a risk of dangerous side effects, including death.

In contrast to the failures of drug approaches, there is mounting evidence that vitamin supplements can prevent cognitive decline. The use of B vitamins has been shown to be particularly helpful, for example, especially when combined with high levels of omega-3 fatty acids, while vitamin C supplementation has recently been proposed as a plausible strategy for the prevention and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. Research additionally suggests that synergistic combinations of antioxidants may not only prevent but also reverse Alzheimer’s disease.
