Increasing evidence suggests that the COVID-19 pandemic was the result of so-called ‘gain-of-function’ research conducted at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China. Such experiments, which involve enhancing the ability of dangerous animal viruses to infect human beings, have become increasingly commonplace around the world in recent years.

Peter Daszak, president of the EcoHealth Alliance, a New York-based organization, is known to have funded coronavirus research in Wuhan. As this news story describes, however, Daszak continues to deny that his collaboration with the Chinese laboratory caused the pandemic. Nevertheless, he also has close links to the notorious Anthony Fauci, former head of the United States National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), via whom his organization has received funding.

Significantly, therefore, in a little reported development, the families of four Americans who died from COVID-19 are suing both Daszak and the EcoHealth Alliance. Accusing them of “creating” and “releasing” the SARS-CoV-2 virus that caused the global outbreak, the lawsuit alleges that they were “well aware” of the risk of causing a pandemic but failed to ensure proper safety measures. Seeking unspecified damages for their losses, the families say that Daszak and his organization “intentionally engaged in a scheme to conceal the true laboratory origins” of the virus.
